ANNOUNCEMENTS

**Update on Weed Abatement / Fire Clearing as of 9/11/2023**

Gothic Landscape has been clearing the brush in various areas and has also been in direct communication with the Fire District. There will likely be one more major, community-wide weed abatement project during the fall but the Fire District has advised they are not overly concerned about what they are seeing in Big Sky and Ventura County as a whole at this point because the weeds have not dried out yet. We will continue to monitor the condition of the regrowth, working in conjunction with the Fire Chief, to ensure Big Sky is in compliance with all fire safety codes.

**Activate your online portal**

Did you know that you can sign up to receive your monthly HOA billing statements by email rather than receiving a paper statement every month?  The Association typically spends almost $10,000 per year in postage and printing expenses. Working together, we can save ourselves money and reduce our environmental impact.

Please be sure to signup for your online portal where you can pay your monthly dues and access important HOA documents and announcements.  Please email appfolio@gmmanagement.com and we will send you an email invitation with link to create your account and password.

**Water Feature Status Update as of 12/4/2023**

United Storm Water has been hired to suction rocks/dirt/debris from the water intake system to the pump/motor, and also to harden the screens/grates so as to prevent future vandalism. This should occur the week of December 11th and we hope to have the fountain running again in time for the holidays. We are also looking at having security cameras installed.

**Landscape Project**

At a previous HOA meeting, Ron Fuchiwaki of the City of Simi Valley presented at the HOA meeting the plans to plant aromatic trees and plants near the intersection of Lost Canyons and Erringer. Here is his Presentation describing the project, and here is a overview map.  Due to the ongoing drought / watering restrictions, this project is currently on hold.

We encourage everyone to bring issues and discussions to the Board Meetings. Meeting signs are posted at both entrances into Big Sky (On Erringer near the above pictured water feature, and on Lost Canyon at the edge of Glen meadows.) The official agenda is posted in the bulletin board by the water feature.

Gothic Landscape has provided the HOA with two documents on drought tolerant landscaping:    This one and this one.
